Volunteer planters are the best planters!

Jakem Farm is one of our high profile revegetation sites, with the large scale planting visible from the South Eastern Freeway between Callington and Mount Barker.

Over the last three years GWLAP has undertaken 145 km of direct seeding, hand sown 40,000 spots and planted over 19,000 seedlings – with the help of volunteers.

This week we checked out how well our seedlings were going and we could not be happier – after monitoring 1700 of the seedlings planted by volunteers last year, 93% of them have survived and they are thriving!

We are forever grateful for the volunteers who give their time and energy to plant some trees – this goes to show you have done a great job!

This project has been supported through funding from the Australian Government’s National Landcare Program.
